How to Evaluate Quaternium-73 Suppliers: Buyer Checklist

Quaternium-73

The best Quaternium-73 supplier for a project is the one whose material, documents and delivery terms you can verify. A price quote or a “high purity” label alone is not enough. Start by matching the ingredient identity, then compare batch specifications, technical support and the conditions of supply.

1. Confirm the material being quoted

Quaternium-73 is also known as Pionin. PubChem lists CAS 15763-48-1. ZLEY’s published TDS gives the same INCI name and CAS number. Ask every bidder to put those identifiers on the quote, technical data sheet (TDS), safety data sheet (SDS) and certificate of analysis (COA). A similar-sounding name, including “Polyquaternium-73,” should be resolved before a sample is approved; see our Quaternium-73 naming guide.

2. Compare documented specifications

ZLEY’s published TDS describes a yellowish to yellow crystalline powder, water content no more than 1.0%, and HPLC purity of at least 98.0%. These are ZLEY’s published specifications, not a claim that every supplier uses the same limits. Request a recent COA for the proposed batch and compare its actual results with the supplier’s written release criteria. Ask how the assay was measured and whether the quoted grade matches the sample.

Document or check What to confirm
COA Batch number, assay, water content, appearance, release date and acceptance limits
TDS INCI, CAS, suggested use, predissolution method and storage instructions
SDS Handling hazards, protective measures and transport information
Commercial quote Grade, quantity, packaging, lead time, shipment terms and quote validity
Sample Whether the evaluated lot represents the material that will be shipped

3. Check formulation support

ZLEY’s TDS suggests 0.001–0.05% use and recommends predissolving the ingredient in ethanol, butanediol or glutarediol before addition. Treat this as supplier guidance rather than a universal legal maximum. Ask candidates for solubility, processing and compatibility information relevant to your base. Evaluate the sample in the intended formula and final package for color, stability and tolerance before approving scale-up. Our Quaternium-73 formulation guide covers these checks in more detail.

4. Separate raw-material safety from product claims

Il ZLEY SDS flags skin, eye and respiratory irritation hazards for concentrated raw-material handling. Verify workplace controls and assess the safety of the finished cosmetic independently. A supplier description of acne-related or antimicrobial activity does not establish that a finished product may claim to treat acne or prevent infection in every market. Request claim-support data where needed and have the final wording reviewed for the target jurisdiction.

5. Compare quotes on the same basis

Ask each supplier to quote the same grade, quantity, packaging and delivery point. Clarify whether testing documents, samples, shipping, duties and replacements for out-of-spec batches are included. An apparently low unit price can be misleading if the assay, documentation or delivery terms differ. We have not published a verified competitor ranking or market price table here; request current quotations and compare evidence rather than recycled web estimates.

Before placing an order

  • Match INCI and CAS across all supplier documents.
  • Approve a representative sample and a recent batch COA.
  • Confirm the current TDS and SDS, including handling and storage.
  • Record your formula trial, stability results and target-market review.
  • Agree on the grade, packaging, lead time and out-of-spec process in writing.
